Depth Psychology involves analyzing and uncovering layers of our unconscious psyche which we all have and which effects a majority of our functioning. Rational consciousness represents only the tip of the iceberg. The layers underneath are the more unconscious layers of our society and the Shadow of our "Democracy" that we would rather not deal with, i.e., the poor, disenfranchised, communities of Color, Immigrants and those that suffer from the systemic inequities in our Society and Culture...those who have politically been "left out". And, of course, Nature Herself, the very Environment we depend upon.
Psychologically speaking, what does this say? I am asking You!
Understanding what makes us tick collectively and politically with more depth, is essential if we want to transform what Freud calls a massive "repetition compulsion" of the past.
There are numerous key depth psychological concepts and theories that are relevant for today's world. This blog seeks to interface these concepts with our politics as well as to question how we are responding on a massive scale to the important issues that face us.
